In my last blog on this subject I ended it with “Jesus Christ is the greater Son of David. And this pattern shows us how to relate to Him, and like Jonathan we to must do all three.” (Check out the other three post’s for the three I’m referencing here.)
The throne of our lives, we must get off of the throne and place Jesus Christ as Unconditional Lord of our Lives.
9 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.
We must surrender to him totally and completely. He is to be the Unconditional Lord on the throne of our hearts.
It is possible for us to be surrendered to authority and not be submissive to it. So in order for him to rule our lives, we too like Jonathan must say. “You yourself will be king over Israel, and I’ll be your second-in-command.” Or to put it another way I submit to your rule!
This leads us to the second essential we will look at in my next blog.
