The Testimony of the Saints
What did the saint’s have to say about Jesus? We have already looked at some of them in the Testimony of Scripture, but now let’s take a few moments to reconsider them.
Peter declares that He did no sin; remember that Peter walked and talked with Jesus everyday for three years.
1 Peter 2:21-22
21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.
22 “He committed no sin,
and no deceit was found in his mouth.”
The Apostle John who also walked With Jesus for three years, had this to say about Him.
1 John 3:5
5 But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin.
Later the Apostle Paul Who although he did not walk with Jesus during Jesus’ earthly ministry came to know Him through a powerful encounter with the risen Lord on the road to Damascus. Does this make him a less reliable source? No, because he also spent time with the risen Christ listen to what Paul say’s: Gal 1:11-12
11 I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel I preached is not something that man made up. 12 I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.
Paul testifies that His gospel was directly from Christ through revelation and he did not learn it second hand. Even though Paul had the Apostles account His gospel like theirs is directly from the mouth of Christ. So we can trust what he has to say right along with the other Apostles.
Paul declares that there was no sin in Christ.
2 Cor 5:21
21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us
The saints clearly testify about the sinless nature of Jesus Christ. But so does Jesus Christ Himself.
