To often we interject our will into our prayers. This strips prayer of it’s real power. If we come to God in prayer and pray according to His will then we are praying a powerful prayer. For as a former saint has said. “God’s Kingdom is the train that rides upon the tracks of our prayers.”
When we pray according to His will then we stand in agreement with Him and His purposes. Let’s look at part of Romans 12 in order to see what I mean. Rom 12:9 ” Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.”NIV
What if put this into a prayer like this. “Holy Father who is above all, fill me with your Spirit so that my love will be sincere and I will hate evil, and cling to what is good.” Is there power to this kind of prayer? YOU BET THERE IS!!! God loves to hear us take his will for our own in prayer!
What if a Church began to pray that God would give them a city or a county? Is that God’s will? Absolutely! By praying like that a small church can be more effective with little than a mega Church with a lot!
“This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Once again I will yield to the plea of the house of Israel and do this for them: I will make their people as numerous as sheep, 38 as numerous as the flocks for offerings at Jerusalem during her appointed feasts. So will the ruined cities be filled with flocks of people. Then they will know that I am the Lord.” Ezek 36:37-38
God says very clearly that he will yield to what? “The Plea of His people” What will He do in response? Make their people numerous. A Church that prays for the harvest will reap it! not so that they can write great books on how to build a mega church. No rather it is God who will get the glory and the Church will know that He is the Lord!
