14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” 16 But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?” 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. 18 But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did:”Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.” 19 Again I ask: Did Israel not understand? First, Moses says,” I will make you envious by those who are not a nation; I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding.”
The gospel is to be shared by us! We are to preach or evangelize the lost with the gospel of good news! This is the way God intended it to be. You and I must share our faith or we will become stale and stagnant like the Dead Sea, a healthy flow coming in but nothing going out.
The Lost will not come to salvation unless we are sowing the seed of the gospel in their life, watering it, and reaping. We do this by lovingly explaining the gospel to them. 1 Cor 1:21
“Since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.”
So we can never get lazy in our effort to share our faith. We are standing between the lost and an eternity in hell! Sharing our faith is not a question of spiritual gifting but rather obedience. If we want to be Christ like then sharing the gospel is vital to that end. Jesus attributed this Scripture to himself Luke 4:18-19
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” He also said this in Luke 4:43 But he said, “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.” He preached the good news to people wherever He went and so should we. why?
Because we have been sent to do just that John 17:18 “As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.” Matt 28:19-20
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
So we see from these verses that evangelism is more about obedience than gifting, and Christ likeness is more than being in prayer and the word of God, it also involves sharing our faith.
